Acoustic Guitar Forum • Re: Bridge Doctors?

Well... I finally got round to installing a " bridge doctor ". Sensing that this little wooden thingy was important to me, the dog chewed up the first one I made while I was briefly off getting my tools together to install it, so I had to make another one. Still!... worse things have happened to me if probably not to the damn dog.
Figuring that attaching mass to the soundboard can't be a good thing, I whittled the weight down as much structurally possible with the wooden block and used hollow carbon fiber rod and aluminum set screw to compress it. These devices definitely work to remove bridge lifting, which I guess is no wonder seeing as they directly counter the problem forces.

Can't say I can hear any losses in sound quality , but then I don't claim to have a particularly fine ear. Action now down to 2.5mm at the twelfth fret with a neck relief of 0.2/3 and nice and low off the nut...... and no buzzing!...so I'm very happy.

My first impression of this D-25 was that it sounded a bit dull and bass heavy, but now I love its sound balance. Great punchy projection too. It's a black one which I would never choose, but when a guitar sounds great then it's finish doesn't really matter.
