Hi again,
(...) the executable won't open on either my W10 or my W11 machine even when running as Admin.
Even if you start it by right-clicking the executable and select "Run as administrator" directly?

The DX Simulator available from Yamaha seems to be v1.05, which actually isn't the last version. I believe the subsequent revisions mainly added and fixed the OPT plugin features (as supported by Yamaha's own SOL DAW). More importantly, though, they were likely developed on 2000/XP (or at least more so than 95/98). The editor is functionally the same, so try the final v1.21. Remember to uninstall the old one(s) first!

There's a chance data from your earlier attempts still remain on the system, and interfere with new installations. There's not much to do about that, except manually searching for the remaining items. There also used to be so-called registry cleaner apps, which among other things could find and remove outdated entries in Windows' registry, although it's been years since I last used something like that. I should perhaps have pointed out that my own experiments were done on a fresh Windows installation, and I would honestly recommend that if you have the option.

Doesn't XGWorks run on Win 10 and 11? There are editors for both plug-in cards in XGWorks
It does, but I would consider that a last resort, since those editors are even older and only run within XGworks.
