Korg and Artura, BTW where was Arturia, I guess PB12 was the 2024 monster mic drop butt kicker for sure?, are the most creative these days. Behringer is cloning so not really anything new. I'd have to consider of everything I saw maybe the Korg Multi/Poly but I'd prefer an SE 61 key model. No interest in a 37 key version which leaves the desktop. Only because most everything else is a clone or nothing new really.
Viscount Legend One might be worth a review since I've never had one. I decided like Scott mentioned that the V-Stage is a dumbed down Fantom for the same price which makes no sense at all. Just wait and get the Fantom next gen or a used current model. It costs more than the YC which can do enough and it falls way short of the Nord so just get a Fantom for less than the Nord and kill the Nord in the process.
Any guesses as to the next Yamaha release of anything that has real keys? I still think YCx
Do I think Behringer is smart to present prototypes? Yes, because Yamaha would never mention any developing gear prior to release which means most of us have already purchased a competitor's model. Had we known about a project in advance we might wait for it. We can see what Behringer has coming and might wait to buy those. For example, assume YCx will be ready by the end of this year but nobody knows about it. We all go buy the Roland V-Stage or Viscount or other and when YCx is announced we simply don't need it. I understand hiding new developments but it's only a Stage board it's not a new Elon rocket that lands back upright.
I might can understand new technology being hidden but some things you don't really need to keep hidden.
HOWEVER, if your new gear sucks then you might be embarrassed enough and better served not to present it early.
Generally Yamaha is a step behind all the competition, I guess the M & G2 pulled even but now is time the YC pulls ahead and offers something outside the "stage box". Nord and now V-Stage do not have the intuitive intelligence of the CK "toy" model and with volume sliders in one place. This should be a sign of the new YC to come, a more intelligent model.
