Chill Out Room • Re: Music Theory - 'Natural' Notes and 'Non-Natural' - I'm very confused

From Wikipedia:
A note is referred to as 'natural' when the letter-name note (A, B, C, D, E, F, or G) is not modified by a flat or sharp (either from a key signature or an accidental).
In German, these unchanged notes are called "Stammtöne". This can be translated as "regular notes".
Hi Kurt --

Google translate thinks "Stammtöne" is "root tone".

I have to give you the benefit of the doubt. :) When we start discussing concepts across natural languages, all bets are off!

Dare I even mention "semiquaver". Ask a US American musician and they might think it has to do with "bows and arrows." I did. Don't ever mention "H"!

Mostly in jest -- pj
