Google translate thinks "Stammtöne" is "root tone".
I have to give you the benefit of the doubt.
When we start discussing concepts across natural languages, all bets are off! Dare I even mention "semiquaver". Ask a US American musician and they might think it has to do with "bows and arrows." I did.
